Welcome
Join, leave, DM, and onboarding messages.
Start here
Send a welcome message to new members
PulseOne → Dashboard → select your server → Modules → Welcome
Choose the server → Modules → Message builder first. Select New, enter a template name, add localized message content, then Create template and Publish the saved version.
Go back to Modules → Welcome. In Welcome configuration locate Join journey and choose your published template and destination channel.
Configure Leave journey and Direct-message journey only if you intend to use them. Consider DMs may be blocked by member privacy settings.
Press Save configuration and Enable runtime, then join with a test member and confirm the message appears in the intended channel.
If using Rules acknowledgement or Role handoff, test those with a fresh member before opening the server to everyone.
Practical example
For a basic welcome, configure only Join journey with a channel and published template. Verify it with a test account before adding roles or DMs.
Before you begin
- Enable first: messages.
- Discord bot permissions for the operational slice: ViewChannel, SendMessages, EmbedLinks.
- Review staff roles and channel access in your server before using the feature.
Overview of the setup
Before you begin
Create and publish a Message Builder template first; use the required variables and a default language.
Configure
Select welcome, goodbye or DM delivery, the target channel and any rules acknowledgement or handoff role.
Test and verify
Join with a test account; inspect the delivered message, fallbacks and whether the acknowledgement changes the configured role.
Features explained
What each feature does and what to check before publishing or installing the result.
Join and leave messages
Join and leave messages should use the correct template version and a channel visible to the intended audience.
Optional direct messages
A DM can fail due to a member's privacy settings; keep an appropriate server-side alternative.
Rules acknowledgement journeys
Require explicit acknowledgement before role handoff, and test the experience for new users without elevated roles.
If it still does not work
- No message? Verify the template has a published version, the runtime is on and the bot can Send Messages in the destination.
- A DM failure may be caused by the recipient’s privacy settings; test channel delivery separately.
Troubleshooting and safety checks
- No greeting? Check the template is published, the module enabled and the bot can post to the destination.
- If a capability is unavailable in the UI, check the module's current rollout/availability instead of assuming every roadmap item is live.
