I turned off timeouts. Why are members still getting timed out?
More than one Discord feature can time members out. PulseOne's manual Moderation actions, AutoMod rule actions and Security protection are configured separately. Follow this checklist to identify the actor before disabling anything.
Open PulseOneQuick distinction
| Where | What it controls | How to stop new actions |
|---|---|---|
| Moderation | Manual timeouts by authorized staff | Action configuration → Timeout off → Save configuration |
| AutoMod | Automatic custom-rule actions | Pause runtime, or switch to Dry run and save |
| Security | Automatic raid and coordinated-message protection | Pause runtime or disable the specific policy and save |
| Discord/other bots | Other moderation actors | Change that actor's separate settings |
Step-by-step diagnosis
Find the source of the timeout first
Open the Discord server’s Server Settings → Audit Log around the time the member was timed out. Look for the action and its actor. It may be a moderator, PulseOne, another bot, or a Discord feature. Do not change unrelated settings before identifying the source.
If it was a manual PulseOne moderation action
Go to PulseOne → your server → Modules → Moderation → Action configuration. Turn off Timeout, then click Save configuration and confirm it saved. This changes PulseOne’s manual action policy; Warning records have a separate Enable/Disable control.
If it was a PulseOne AutoMod rule
Open Modules → AutoMod. Use Pause runtime to stop new custom message evaluations, or use Actions & exemptions → Evaluation mode → Dry run and press Save immutable policy. Review Severity action ladders to find timeouts configured by rule severity. The runtime badge should agree with the intended state.
If it was PulseOne Security
Open Modules → Security. Review coordinated anti-raid messages and other enforcement policies. Disable the specific unwanted protection and press Save configuration, or pause the Security runtime. The /security owner-controlled audit and lockdown commands are distinct from automatic enforcement.
If it was another Discord system
Check Discord’s built-in AutoMod rules, any other moderation bots, and moderator role permissions. A PulseOne configuration change cannot stop other actors from issuing timeouts.
Check what is already applied
Turning off enforcement prevents only future actions from that system. It does not automatically remove an active Discord timeout. An authorized moderator can review the member’s current timeout in Discord and lift it when appropriate.
